THE BARD IN BUFFALO:
More than one million people have attended Shakespeare in Delaware Park since its inaugural season in 1976 – making it the second largest outdoor Shakespeare festival in the country.  Nestled in the natural amphitheater behind the Albright-Knox Art Gallery that has come to be known as “Shakespeare Hill,” a grand Tudor-style stage is constructed each summer as the home for the Bard’s stories of passion, laughter and love. WRIGHT HERE, WRIGHT NOW :
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin Martin House Complex truly came into its own as a tourist destination with the opening of architect Toshiko Mori’s brilliant Greatbatch Pavilion on March 18th. This 8,000 square foot interpretive center will provide visitors to Wright’s Prairie Style masterpiece with museum quality exhibits, interactive touch screens, and a state-of-the-art orientation film that artfully and eloquently tell the story of Buffalo businessman Darwin D. Martin and the young man from Chicago who would go on to become the greatest architect of the 20th Century. For more information on tours, click here.

READY TEDDY:
After extensive renovations and the installation of state-of-the-art exhibits, the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site has reopened to the public. Visitors can experience an all new guided tour and a multi-dimensional series of interactive displays that bring Roosevelt’s inauguration to life as a dynamic tour through time. Audio, lighting techniques, and a “storytelling” approach transport visitors back to the drama of September, 1901 following the assassination of President William McKinley. More…

Distinctive Destination

BUFFALO BY BUS:
Experience one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations for 2009 on an Open-Air Autobus tour operated by the Campaign for Greater Buffalo History, Architecture & Culture. The Campaign’s knowledgeable guides bring Buffalo’s buildings to life with wit, charm and insight. The 2009 tour season runs from June through September and tours are conducted Thursday-Sunday. BUFFALO TOURS:
Summer’s here and the time is right for touring in the streets. Buffalo Tours’ highly trained docents offer 26 different tours throughout the Queen City 500 times each year. Simply arrive at the meeting point ten minutes before the tour begins. Docents will take cash, Visa, Matercard and checks. Tours take place rain or shine; call if the weather’s bad. Dress for the conditions and wear comfortable shoes. Unless noted, most tours last two hours, and do not require reservations. More...

BUFFALO BY BOAT:
Experience Buffalo’s industrial architecture on a boat tour of the Buffalo River on Saturday, July 4th. The tour departs from the Miss Buffalo Dock at Erie Basin Marina at 12:30 p.m. You’ll get an up close and personal view of the Naval Park, Central Wharf, General Mills Plant and the legendary grain elevators that influenced the course of modern architecture.
