Wearing The Green

On St. Patrick’s Day everyone in Buffalo is Irish

St. Patrick's DayIt is no secret that Buffalo is a city that loves to celebrate! Festivals, outdoor concerts, sporting events, to name a few, are all reasons to have a good time within our community. Buffalo’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade signals the start of Buffalo’s festival season that runs all summer long.

Join thousands of people in a sea of green on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. for the 66th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Buffalo. And the best part is you don’t have to be Irish. On this day, everyone is from the Emerald Isle.

Buffalo like many other communities throughout the United States, has a large Irish-American population. The richness of Irish culture provides this population with numerous ways to celebrate its heritage throughout the year. The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, however, is Buffalo's largest celebration of the Irish heritage.

The Parade, which begins near Buffalo's Art Deco City Hall, draws people of all nationalities. The enthusiastic crowds line Delaware Avenue as the Irish dancers, bands, civic organizations, and others march proudly by in celebration and in honor of St. Patrick. The fun does not end once the parade has concluded. Throughout Buffalo, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations run deep into the night at restaurants, pubs and community centers.
