Glass Flowers in a Crystal Palace

Corning Museum of Glass comes to Buffalo’s Botanical Gardens

Botanical GardensThe world-renowned Corning Museum of Glass (CMOG) reveals the amazing properties of glass with live flameworking demonstrations at the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens on March 31 and April 1. Two of New York States’ unique visitor destinations will collaborate on bringing CMOG’s summer exhibition: “Botanical Wonders: The Story of the Glass Flowers” to Buffalo. The exhibition showcases 17 rarely loaned, fragile, glass flowers that were crafted at the turn of the 20th century for Harvard’s Botanical Museum. Visitors can see live flame-working and see original delicate flower figurines hand crafted and blown by torch.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are three historic attractions in one: Frederick Law Olmsted's South Park; the 1899 tri-domed glass conservatory building; and the Victorian-style gardens of plants. The Botanical Gardens is a magnificent place to view beautiful flowers and scenery.

The Corning Museum of Glass offers a world renowned collection of art and historical glass and is a unique museum experience. Intricate and ornate glass figurines and sculptures are on display throughout the museum, including glass-blowing demonstrations. Any fan of art or anyone who just wants to see something truly unique should definitely make sure to come and see this wonderful event.
