Billy Joel, Buffalo Philharmonic Pops & Riverdance highlight this month’s musical offerings

Botanical GardensThe stage is on fire in Buffalo throughout the month of April. With major concert events and upcoming musical and theatrical performances happening all throughout the city of Buffalo, it might be difficult to see them all.

HSBC Arena is host to two major concert events this April. On April 10th spend an evening with six-time Grammy Award winner Billy Joel. Tickets for the “Songwriter’s Hall of Fame” inductee are on sale for $51 and $86.50. Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter John Mayer brings his rock n’ roll show to Buffalo on April 21. Touring with special guest Kathleen Edwards, tickets for Mayer’s show will run $41 or $51 depending on seat preference.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) offers quite a few more great concerts to partake in. The BPO is offering five different orchestra events through the month of April, including The Great American Song Book conducted by Marvin Hamlisch on April 23rd and Peter And The Wolf and The Lion King conducted by Robert Franz on April 28th and 29th.

Moving onto the theatrical side of the stage, both Shea’s and Studio Arena have something to offer in April. From April 20 – 22, Shea’s Performing Arts Center will host the international phenomenon, Riverdance. The Chicago Tribune describes Riverdance as, “An explosion of sight and sound that simply take your breath away.”  Studio Arena will be hosting two plays during the month of April. The Mystery of Irma Vep, running through is a hilarious comedic mystery that is sure to be full of side splitting suspense. A Time for Love: Songs from a Marriage will round out the month of April at Studio Arena. The show is a charming romantic comedy that runs from April 20 – May 13.
