The Jazz Legacy Lives On

New talent and old favorites reunite for a weekend of jazz in commemoration of the Pine Grill Nightclub.

Allenton Arts FestivalThe 2007 Pine Grill Jazz Reunion will take place August 5th and August 12th, the first two Sundays of the month.  The event is named in honor of the Pine Grill Nightclub, which was the “place to be” back in the day for many Buffalonians.  Although the nightclub is no longer standing, the corner of East Ferry and Jefferson remains legendary as a nostalgic hotspot.  In 1989, a group of community leaders started the Pine Grill Jazz Reunion, to reunite some of the nightclub’s favorite acts.  Ever since, the annual event has served to showcase both new talent and old favorites.  The special events also pay tribute to Buffalo’s contribution to America’s jazz legacy by showcasing the local, national and international artists who carry the tradition forward.

The Pine Grill Jazz Reunion is presented by the African American Cultural Center, a not- for-profit multipurpose arts organization founded in 1958. It is dedicated to promoting, sponsoring and developing an appreciation of and allegiance to African American heritage.
