Jazz It Up

At the Pine Grill Jazz Reunion

Smooth sounds.  Great friends.  Find both at the Pine Grill Jazz Reunion on August 6th and 13th in Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

There is no greater feeling then re-uniting with old friends and creating new memories.  And the Pine Grill Jazz Reunion has been providing both for seventeen years.  Held in Martin Luther King Jr. Park on August 6th and 13th from 4 to 9 p.m, the African American Cultural Center presents the Jazz Reunion in honor of local, national and international artists who carry the jazz tradition.

In the 1950’s and 60’s, the Pine Grill Nightclub was the mecca of jazz and entertainment in Buffalo.  If you lived in Buffalo, or just landed here for a visit, stopping at the Pine Grill was a must.  It wasn’t out of the ordinary to see a famous celebrity or icon joining in and becoming part of Buffalo’s jazz legacy.

In 1989, Maxine S. Harvard collaborated with George K. Arthur, then on the City of Buffalo Common Council, to reunite artists at the Pine Grill.  Seventeen years later, the tradition still lives on with musical legends returning annually to the event.

Include the Pine Grill Jazz Reunion in your summer plans. On consecutive Sundays in August, this years’ event once again features great music with world famous players and local musicians playing tribute to the Pine Grill.
