The Righteous Babe Returns Home
Internationally acclaimed folk singer Ani DiFranco to play a two-night concert series
The Buffalo native is set to perform at The Church which she has restored and converted into an entertainment venue
One of the leading ladies of rock music, internationally acclaimed Buffalo folk singer and Grammy Award winner Ani DiFranco will return to The Church to perform a special two night concert series September 11th and 12th.
A Buffalo native and current resident, Ani DiFranco is known as a prolific artist, having released seventeen albums during her career of the same number of years. She has collaborated with artists such as Prince and Cyndi Lauper and is also the founder of Righteous Babe Records.
Hamell on Trial joins her Tuesday night, and Melissa Ferrick is the special guest star Wednesday. This is the beginning of her concert series which takes her across the United States and throughout Europe during Fall 2007.
The concert series will be held at The Church, located on the corner of Delaware Avenue and West Tupper Streets. The former Asbury Delaware United Methodist Church was set to be demolished until Righteous Babe Records purchased it, paid for its restoration and converted it into an entertainment venue. The Church now serves as the headquarters of the record label, and contains the performance venue Asbury Hall. It also contains the gallery and screening room of Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center and a small bar and lounge.
