Kicking off on a high note

The Buffalo Philharmonic begins its 2007-2008 season

Allenton Arts FestivalExplore the symphonic sounds of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra by taking in one of many shows the BPO offers this Fall.  The season kicked off with a sold out performance by Van Cliburn, and continues with many more great performances at Kleinhans Music Hall, a National Historic Landmark internationally acclaimed for its acoustics.

The M&T Bank Classics Series on September 29th-30th features Cinderella to Scheherazade, with the fairytale allure of Romantic Fantasy through French pianist Phillipe Bianconi.  The weekend of October 12th-13th is Schumann & Brahms, conducted by JoAnn Falletta and featuring guest pianist Sa Chen.  This performance features songs from the greatest composers of the Romantic Age.

BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York presents Johnny Mathis on October 6th.  One of the most popular performers of all time, Mathis has spent nearly ten continuous years during his fifty year career aboard the Billboard Top Albums Chart. 

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of West Side Story, with Leonard Bernstein’s Broadway smash hits including “Tonight,” “Maria” and “I Feel Pretty” with acclaimed guest singers and dancers October 20th. 

For the family, October 21st is Wild Wild West.  This concert is dedicated to American music of the old West, complete with square dancers looking for a rowdy time.     

Kleinhans also has many specials, including An Evening with Chris Botti on October 5th.  Join this trumpeter extraordinaire as he plays jazz selections backed by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.  VIP tickets are available for this show which feature an exclusive meet and greet with the performer hailed by Oprah.  A unique performance entitled Video Games Live will take place on October 14th.  This groundbreaking live event celebrates the music of video games as the BPO is accompanied by synchronized video and lighting, live action and interactive segments as they perform the music from such games as Mario, Zelda and Final Fantasy.
