Internationally acclaimed photographer Milton Rogovin on display at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society’s Pan-American Building.
Internationally acclaimed photographer Milton Rogovin will be on display through January 13th, 2008 at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society’s Pan-American Building. Milton Rogovin: Native American Series, 1963-2002 features the emotionally moving photographs by the celebrated social documentary photographer.
Composed of 39 years of Rogovin’s work, the images featured of are what he describes as “the forgotten ones.” Iroquois communities throughout upstate New York, Canada and Buffalo’s Lower West Side are displayed through black and white photographs. Native Americans, young and old, urban and rural, in varied settings including psychedelic rock and roll culture, an Iroquois social gathering and weathered reservation buildings comprise the subjects of his photography. Venturing into communities that society often overlooks, Rogovin has unearthed and captured a wealth of experiences to share.
