The first-ever Christmas Food Fair will make its way to the historic Broadway Market.
The first-ever Christmas Food Fair will make its way to the Broadway Market on Friday, November 23rd and Saturday, November 24th. This event is being held on the traditional kick-off weekend to the Christmas shopping season. Although relatively unknown in the U.S., Christmas markets are wildly popular in cities across Europe. Along with the Eastern European foods that made the market famous, the Christmas Food Fair will highlight ethnic specialties from around the world, as well as unique gift items from local artisans and shops. The Food Fair features ethnic delicacies, seasonal sweets, holiday decorations, beautiful gift items and distinctive stocking stuffers.
The Broadway Market averages over 300,000 visitors at Easter time, and has become a Western York tradition when thousands flock to get their butter lambs, polish sausage and other delicacies. The Christmas Food Fair seeks to make the Winter holiday season another annual tradition. The event also features a variety of performers including bands, choirs and dance groups.
Established in 1888, the Broadway Market is the oldest indoor market in the United States. The market features more than 40 old-world butcher shops and bakeries, candy shops and restaurants with an assortment of ethnic food vendors. Many of these vendors are family-owned businesses, passed from generation to generation, creating some of Buffalo’s best loved foods.
