Merry, merry, merry music from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra
The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will put a song in your heart and joy in your holiday season with a series of concerts throughout the coming month.
The BPO and Shea’s Performing Arts Center present “The Nutcracker” with BalletMet Columbus and a cast featuring local dancers of all ages on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. Conducted by BPO resident Conductor Robert Franz, this holiday masterpiece is designed for the entire family. On Friday, December 8, at 10:30 a.m. and Saturday, December 9, at 8 p.m. the Philharmonic will present “A Classical Christmas,” a vibrant and joyful program of holiday delights. The concert will feature festive Baroque offerings by Bach and Corelli, with uplifting songs of the season by soprano Lianne Coble and tenor Todd Teske, as well as carols by the Buffalo Philharmonic chorus.
The timeless and moving Christmas story “The Polar Express” will be transformed into a staged children’s performance featuring the Amherst Bel Canto Choir on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2:30 p.m. The concert will include a holiday sing-along.
The BPO’s holiday concert season comes to a crescendo of spirited song on Friday, December 15, at 8 p.m., Saturday, December 16, at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday, December 17, at 2:30 p.m. with the annual HSBC Holiday Pops concerts. Join conductor Marvin Hamlisch, the renowned Empire Brass and the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus for a show that has become a true holiday tradition.
