Why Fight It!!!

Embrace your inner snowman

Buffalo BillsDoes it snow in Buffalo? We know the answer to that one.

However, most Western New Yorkers do not view the white stuff as a bad thing, it is more a great excuse to get outside and participate in a whole different scope of activities for a few months. Without snow…how else could you go downhill skiing or snowboarding at Kissing Bridge? Build a snowman with children? Cross-country skiing in Delaware Park? Snowshoeing at Chestnut Ridge? Or continue the pursuit for the perfect snow angel?

The Buffalo Museum of Science has a current exhibit that will change the way everyone looks at winter: “SNOW – Celebrate Buffalo’s Meteorological Claim to Fame.”

Running through February 25, 2007, the Buffalo Museum of Science takes an in-depth look at the science of snow, and how it is a part of life in the Buffalo Niagara region. The exhibit features a snow lab, which allows participants to test their design skills with modern toboggans and snowball catapults. As featured in USA TODAY, Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley’s snow crystal images collection takes a very up-close look at the structure of the snowflake. The museum’s Hamlin Hall has been transformed into a winter wonderland, without the need to wear a coat. The exhibition will also examine Buffalo’s notorious “Blizzard of ’77,” long considered to be one of the nation’s most unique weather events.

The Buffalo Museum of Science is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday. Visit www.buffalomuseumofscience.org or call (716) 896-5200 for more information.
